Silicone rubber (English name: Silicone rubber), thermal vulcanization type (high temperature vulcanized silica gel HTV), room temperature vulcanization type (RTV), including room temperature vulcanization type and polycondensation reaction type and addition reaction type. High temperature silicone rubber is mainly used in the manufacture of various silicone rubber products, while room temperature silicone rubber is mainly used as a bonding agent, potting material or mold. The amount of hot vulcanization type is the largest, and the hot vulcanization type is divided into methyl silicone rubber (MQ), methyl vinyl silicone rubber (VMQ, the amount and product grade are the most), methyl vinyl phenyl silicone rubber PVMQ (low temperature resistance, radiation resistance), and other rubber, fluorine silicone rubber.

According to incomplete statistics, in 2003, the production of hot vulcanized silicone rubber in China was more than 40,000 tons, and the actual consumption of China's rubber in that year was nearly 100,000 tons, and most of the high-quality rubber rely on imports.
At present, the consumption of silicone rubber rubber in China exceeds 10% of the world consumption, and the fastest growing silicon rubber application field is the production of conductive keys (keypads). The production plant is concentrated in Shenzhen, Xiamen, Nantong and other areas, and the key glue has become the largest user of hot vulcanized silicone rubber; Silicone rubber insulator and lightning arrester is instead of porcelain, FRP insulator, lightning arrester of the third generation of products, can be used in harsh climate environment, now foreign countries have been used in a large number of power transmission and transformation system, China has begun to use in coastal developed areas, the market prospects are very broad; The amount of automotive sealant made of silicone rubber in China amounts to tens of thousands of tons, of which thermal vulcanized silicone rubber is about 3,000 tons, and with the improvement of automobile grade, the amount of silicone rubber will increase significantly; In addition, silicone rubber in power cables, nuclear power plants, ships and other control cables, internal wiring of electronic machines, electric motors, color TV leads have good application prospects. RTV is mainly used as bonding sealant, potting material and mold. The largest type of sealant used in the construction and decoration market (commonly known as "glass glue") is mainly used for bonding sealing requirements of new building forms such as glass curtain walls and high-rise buildings. In developed countries, the amount of silicone sealants has mostly maintained an annual growth rate of more than 10% in recent years. According to statistics, China's consumption of silicone sealant in 2000 reached more than 50,000 tons, and is growing at an average annual rate of 20%-30%.
In recent years, with the improvement of technical level and the expansion of market demand, the production of silicone sealant has developed rapidly, and many enterprises have invested in building factories or expanding the scale, and have formed two major silicone sealant production bases in Zhejiang and Guangdong. With the technological progress of the silicone industry, the quality of domestic silicone structural adhesive has been greatly improved, coupled with the price of domestic structural adhesive is much lower than that of imported glue, making domestic rubber has an absolute advantage in the performance-price ratio.
